Zowel vrouwen als mannen komen tijdens hun leven in aanraking met HPV.<sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0Maar wat is HPV precies en hoe vaak komt het voor? Meestal ruimt je lichaam het virus binnen twee jaar op, maar niet altijd.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ffdc9094 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:32px;margin-bottom:16px\"><h3  class=\"mh-heading mh-heading--1bdb085aa464e2d34bac4eff3334db89\"><strong>Wat zijn de gevolgen?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p\n    class=\"mh-paragraph mh-paragraph--2e1ea49295f751149a707d1d1815ab38\"\n    >\n    Wanneer je lichaam HPV niet opruimt, kan het kanker veroorzaken aan de:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<ul class=\"mh-v2-clist mh-v2-clist--358b9244d8fe1b2baba9835df78101b5 mh-v2-clist--dot\"  >\n\n\n<li>\n    Anus    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Baarmoederhals (ook wel cervix)    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Mond en keelholte    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Penis    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Vagina    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Vulva    <\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p\n    class=\"mh-paragraph mh-paragraph--706163bb0876165e7438d080cfe70a5a\"\n    >\n    Meestal komen deze kankers pas op latere leeftijd voor, maar baarmoederhalskanker komt bij vrouwen vaak al tussen de 30 en 35 jaar voor. Het kan gebeuren tijdens vaginale, anale of orale seks, maar ook door huid-op-huid contact tijdens seks. Het virus is zeer besmettelijk. Genitale wratten kun je zelfs krijgen door dezelfde handdoek te gebruiken als iemand die besmet is met HPV.<sup>1,3<\/sup><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ffdc9094 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:32px;margin-bottom:16px\"><h3  class=\"mh-heading mh-heading--51587721092e6784929920ce7662861f\"><strong>Loop ik een risico?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p\n    class=\"mh-paragraph mh-paragraph--a1da38d923a767374fae548a10320cff\"\n    >\n    Iedereen kan besmet raken met het virus. Sommige mensen hebben een grotere kans op ziekte door HPV.<sup>2,4,5<\/sup>\u00a0Hieronder vallen bijvoorbeeld:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<ul class=\"mh-v2-clist mh-v2-clist--c65ce9e3787b12aeb380437a18413f0c mh-v2-clist--dot\"  >\n\n\n<li>\n    Mensen met een verminderde afweer    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Mannen die seks hebben met mannen (MSM)    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Mensen met hiv    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Vrouwen met een\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/onzegezondheid.nl\/samentegenhpv\/voorstadium-baarmoederhalskanker\/\">voorstadium van baarmoederhalskanker<\/a>\u00a0(CIN2-3)    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Mensen met veelvuldige en wisselende seksuele contacten    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    Mensen die roken    <\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\"><h3  class=\"mh-heading mh-heading--83d6f7fd91bd6241370c9ec902057d3e\"><strong>Vaste partner en t\u00f3ch HPV?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<p\n    class=\"mh-paragraph mh-paragraph--3767f460073aebc3cad92b179d20fdad\"\n    >\n    Meestal ruimt je lichaam het virus op, maar HPV kan ook slapend in je lichaam aanwezig zijn. Als dit niet gebeurt kan de infectie lijden tot kanker of wratten. De eerste symptomen hiervan kunnen zijn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"mh-v2-clist mh-v2-clist--651ce984045172cbfcf2cef796790464 mh-v2-clist--dot\"  >\n\n\n<li>\n    <strong>Bij kanker:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>een branderig gevoel, bloedingen, pijn en afwijkingen aan anus, penis, schaamlippen en in de mond- en keelholte.<sup>1,2<\/sup>    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    <strong>Bij wratten bij de geslachtsorganen:<\/strong>\u2028<br>jeuk en irritatie in dit gebied.<sup>2<\/sup>    <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n    <strong>Bij wratten op de stembanden of in de luchtwegen:<\/strong>\u00a0<br>ademhalingsproblemen.<sup>2<\/sup>    <\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"mh-column mh-column--013414c1b514545d5c52066056cbcdd5 mh-column--12 mh-column--m-12 mh-column--l-3\">\n    \n<h3  class=\"mh-heading mh-heading--center mh-heading--dd715efe327605fcecdba099acc82a12\"><strong>1600 mensen met kanker door HPV per jaar<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-vertical is-content-justification-stretch is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-1b33250d wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:25px;margin-bottom:25px;padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\"><hr class=\"mh-separator mh-separator--align-full mh-separator--17e62f2bf0e5b9216f28ac68a6420cae\" aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p\n    class=\"mh-paragraph mh-paragraph--center mh-paragraph--align-full mh-paragraph--8aa73348621fd6663e9048158a26ca1a\"\n    >\n    <em>Bijna 1200 vrouwen en bijna 400 mannen per jaar in Nederland ontwikkelen kanker door het virus. Daarvan sterven ongeveer 650 mensen.<sup>7<\/sup><\/em><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"mh-column mh-column--48460b5fc1b7692a5020cf390e4a3348 mh-column--12 mh-column--m-12 mh-column--l-3\">\n    \n<h3  class=\"mh-heading mh-heading--center mh-heading--d3880ad004792108820c96066701a066\"><strong>36.000 diagnoses genitale wratten<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignfull is-vertical is-content-justification-stretch is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-1b33250d wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:25px;margin-bottom:25px;padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--70)\"><hr class=\"mh-separator mh-separator--align-full mh-paragraph--6a3396700be1c11d4432fd74e63a8ef8\"\n    >\n    <em>Jaarlijks zijn er ongeveer 17.000 gevallen van genitale wratten bij vrouwen en 19.000 gevallen van genitale wratten bij
